Wedding Prep

You’ve made it to the week before your wedding! In a few short days you’ll be married!

During the last week, you may be feeling stressed and overwhelmed. When we’re stressed, things might fall through the cracks, which we definitely don’t want. Read below about last minute tasks that I don’t want you to forget!

Week Before Your Wedding

Some of these tasks you may have already completed during the wedding planning process, but these are things you should make sure to get done at least one week before your wedding day:

  • Buy alcohol if you’re providing your own and and get a Special Event liquor license if your venue/caterer/bartender requires it

  • Complete all signage (welcome sign, seating chart, bar sign, etc.)

  • Complete music set list

  • Complete photo shot list

  • Confirm details with your wedding party and family

  • Confirm toasts are written and printed (it will look so much better in photos if they’re printed than if they’re reading off of a phone)

  • Designate a person to take home cards and gifts

  • Get your marriage license and choose witnesses (if your state requires witnesses)

  • Organize and label all decor for your planner/coordinator/set up team (table setting boxes if you’re supplying your own dishware/centerpieces/linens, favors, signage, cake cutting set etc.)

  • Pick up outfits and wedding rings

  • Practice first dance

  • Put together flat lay box

  • Write vows, print copies, and send digital copies to your officiant

A Couple Days Before Your Wedding

These are the last minute tasks that you should be accomplishing 2-3 days before your wedding (i.e. Wednesday or Thursday if you’re having a Saturday wedding):

  • Get hair cuts, manicures, spray tans, etc.

  • Get snacks for the getting ready rooms

  • Practice bustle (if you have one)

  • Put tip money for vendors in labeled envelopes for your planner/coordinator/other designated person to hand out

Day Before Your Wedding (Rehearsal Day)

It’s almost your wedding day! Here are some tasks you’ll want to do the day before:

  • Remind the wedding party and family of wedding day arrival times

  • Steam all outfits inside out, putting a sock over the steamer, and use distilled water to prevent water droplets (you don’t want to do this the morning of - steam and long lasting hair and makeup don’t mix!)

  • Take off all jewelry and hair ties before bed so you don’t even have to worry about them the next day

  • Wash your hair so it’s ready for the next day

  • Wear your wedding shoes to the rehearsal to practice walking in them

Wedding Day

It’s your wedding day! Remember the following tasks to have a stress-free day:

  • No bra while getting ready (you don’t want any creasing to show when you put on your dresses)

  • Nothing in pockets (that looks weird in photos)

  • Put on rings for before ceremony photos (if applicable)

  • Stay hydrated

  • Take a deep breath and enjoy!

The last week before your wedding should be a time of celebration and getting last minute tasks done. Use this checklist so you’re not stressing about making sure you didn’t forget anything, and hire a wedding planner or manager to take care of everything else!
